Received a call yesterday afternoon from a woman who is scheduled to
have a nipple biopsy tomorrow. She is successfully nursing a 4mo w/o
pain.

She has had a bump on the end of her nipple, which is small and white in
its center (smaller than a pea, slightly enlarged immediately p nursing)
for at least two months, and perhaps always. It is painless. She thought
to mention it at the 4mo well-child check-up. The MD did a tiny
incision, but no milk was released. He scheduled the biopsy for 1 1/2
weeks later, and in the meantime she used warm compresses, but no
changes occurred.

Has anyone had a similar experience? If so, what were the results? What
was the course of healing for the nipple?

I plan to treat it like any damaged, working nipple, with careful
placement at latch and continued nursing.

Has anyone had a situation in which the biopsy itself was disastrous?
Or, has anyone had a case in which the biopsy proved the bump positive
for malignancy?
