I was saddened to read of one colleague's visit to a huge shelter,
babies everywhere, and exactly *one* breastfeeding.
Donating milk is going to become terribly important when the
consequences of all that dirty water and lack of sanitation hit full
force. I wish our culture were one which would accept a phalanx of LLL
mothers marching in to do a mass wet-nurse.
For any of you who have the desire to donate to individuals in the
trenches rather than a cash donation to a faceless organization (which
is still critical!), please consider contacting a La Leche League
Leader near you. There are LLLL's visiting shelters and setting up
group homes and such things, and they are happy to receive travel size
toiletries, toys for children, clothing, etc.
