Hello everyone... I am new to the list, so I thought I'd give a little introduction before asking my question. My name is Jeannine. I am mother to William (2) and Emalina (3.5 months), wife to Steve (10 years) and friend to Mickey (9 year old Golden Retriever). In addition to both my children being breastfed, I have also been a breastfeeding peer-councelor for the past year or so and am in the process of becoming a LLLL. It's nice to meet you all. So far I've read lots of good things on this list.
Ok, on to my question. I counciled a mom of a good friend of mine about 4 months ago. She had a c-section, wasn't allowed to bf for 24hours, and guess what. She was sent home with formula and the baby wasn't latching. She lived on the other side of the country (I'm in FL and she's in NY), so I encouraged her to see a local LC. I heard through the grapevine that she quit trying at two-weeks pp. Now, she is asking for help to re-lactate at 4 months.
Does anyone have experience with helping a mom re-lactate? How difficult is it and what are the success rates?
I'm not counciling her at this point. I'm just curious for future reference.
Thanks,
Jeannine
