I am a avid bedsharer with my now 2 3/4 year old daughter. Sleep issues
were minimal after delivery because of it...later with frequent toddler night
nursing not such a rosey memory but still better imo! In the hospital I
usually chat up a mom before or after latch and positioning help giving some
additional info. Sibling adjustment, first night home tips, what products I liked
etc...usually with much humor added in. At that time I casually mention the
cosleeping part, throw in the safety speech and let them know it's ok to do,
sleep habits arent formed for several months and "do whatever you need to do
to get some sleep" in the first few weeks. Certainly not a recommendation,
just letting mom's know it's ok to do short term and doesn't mean they will
be sleeping with their school age child! (of course...I hope they love it and
it DOES turn into that...but that's just me!)
