This is pretty typical, starting to get very balky about feeding at
about 3 mos of age. Look at baby's swallowing. If the baby is
aspirating, microaspirating, or having a hard time handling the milk
flow, she might be afraid to nurse. Oversupply can make the flow harder
to handle as well.
Look for: gulping, mistimed swallows (stridor during a swallow that
means milk got into the larynx), increasing congestion through the feeding.
Mom can try: leaning back to feed, straddle position, prone, sidelying.
Sometimes it's reflux or other painful gi conditions that cause the baby
to refuse feeding. A good doc can be so helpful in helping tease out all
the possibilities.
