Sorry for the lag on the update everybody. Here is what is going on....

Tucson has put in place an Adiministrative Directive that covers all ctity
property. They have voted on a resolution to take to the state to change
state law. They are planning a task force to garner business support and
create the bf friendly decals. They have also directed staff to look at
Chandler's ordinance to make sure it is legally viable(not my words) and
will stand, and to then propose the same thing here in Tucson. This is not
over in Tucson! We will be working on this for the next month or so. We
definately need to keep the pressure on! They get it now that this is a real
issue, and it is not going away.

I spoke at the study session, and I urged them to cover all property not
just city property. At the regular meeting many other women spoke as well.
They only allotted half an hour for call to the audience, so everyone did
not get to speak their peace. Everyone who spoke told the council to protect
mothers everywhere in the city. I think this is really going to go forward.
We just need to not fade away> Keep up the pressure here, and in Tempe!

It has been mentioned that valley cities are headed in the same direction.
We definately are riding a wave of action, and we need to stick to it!

Council member Carol West spoke out in favor of nursing mothers, but was
troubled by an ordinance that covers all property. She mentioned the lack of
enforceability of a city wide ordinance. She also said what we need to do is
outlaw nursing in toilet stalls. She was the one to second Steve Leal's
motion to do all of the above mentioned things.

I want to thank everyone who sent letters, called, and came out yesterday!
There was a procession of supporters with signs that walked up, and you all
brought me to tears. You never realize how much this issue really means to
you until something like this happens. Thanks everyone! You have done an
AMAZING job so far. Let's keep fighting the good fight.
