Re: baby diaper bags
Baby Depot, inside Burlington Coat Factory has provided us with bags.
We are allowed to say what goes inside and what is left out.

People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they
can do things. When they believe in themselves, they have the first
secret to success.

Renee,

An easy place to get business names are all the area/local publications

directed at or in some way related to new parents. For instance, here in
the DC
area we have or had something like "Washington Families" magazine, ..go
to the
ads pages, contact the businesses, develop an email list and send a
letter
offering them a unique opportunity to market directly to new parents by

providing a sample or coupon of their baby/breastfeeding related
product.

Renee,
Noodle Soup offers some nice canvas bags. Lansinoh, Hollister and Medela
may
be able to provide "freebies" for inside... Nursing pads, Lansinoh,
Belly
Balls, etc...
I would recommend buying the smaller bags, and using the angle "This is
all
you need (one or two diapers) if you are breastfeeding"
The new Lansinoh freebies have a LLL membership form already printed on
the
packaging.
Or you could print your own membership form, and maybe draw a name from
the
returned forms to win a sling... :)
Noodle Soup also has cool little give-away items....

Subject: Looking for "Diaper Bag" Ideas

Hi Fellow Lactnetters,

Our La Leche League Group is in process of making our own "diaper
bags" for
the local hospital to counter the formula ones given out. We are
going to
be
asking United Way for funding to help us with this endeavor. Of
course the

information included will be La Leche League Philosophy, however we
would
like to add "freebies" and such things to give the moms a feeling of
"wow
look
what I got" and to give them the much needed breastfeeding support
without
a
"well if you can't breastfeed, try our formula...." spin.

What I am looking for is names of companies that may have things that
we
could buy to add to our bags (not real expensively) or free samples
from
companies that are breastfeeding friendly so there are no mixed
messages
(for
example...putting in some type of lotion samples from a bottle feeding

company).
Also if anyone knows of a breastfeeding friendly site that makes
homemade
diaper bags that would like a big contract, and also some sites that
would
be
interested in "advertising" their breastfeeding friendly items (ie:
slings,
wraps, etc.) we would very much like to hear it. You do not have to
have
personal
financial interest in these products but we would like to have
products
that
in no way advertise anything other than LLL Philosophy/attachment
parenting.

Please email me off list with your ideas and I will be glad to add
these to
our Leader's Meeting for consideration.

Thank you,

Renee Drake RN CLC
