Dr. Armeni writes:
<Can someone please refer me the post/article on the 19(?)
maternal-infant
gastrointestinal hormones involved in STS care?
M.Ersilia Armeni>
I am certain that others have the full citations, but the author to look
for is Kirsten Uvnas-Moberg of Sweden. She has done a great deal of
research and written many articles on oxytocin in various kinds of
circumstances, probably including skin-to-skin care.
She has also written a seminal article on the gastric hormone stimulated
by suckling itself. The hormone is cholecystokinin and is released in
both the baby and the mother.
Uvnas-Moberg K, The Gastrointestinal Tract in Growth and Reproduction,
Scientific American, July 1989, p. 78-83.Synchronization of maternal and
infant personality/chemistry.
