OK, all you wonderful women...I need some help. For a variety of reasons
(right or wrong, which I won't go into now) I have been working with a mom
using a silicone breast shield. Baby is now gaining weight VERY well, milk
supply is abundant and we are all ready to get rid of the thing.
I understand it is not recommended to "trim back" the silicone shields due
to sharp edges? I'm surprised something so thin and soft would have sharp
edges. So what do you recommend?
Mom has tried putting baby to breast, he takes two three sucks and gives her
a look and stops. I've encouraged her to continuing offering the breast,
"priming" the pump with some breast compression or massage, or even a little
expressed breastmilk via a supplemental feeder she has. Babe is now 5 weeks
old.
Any wisdom?
