Oh Wise Knowledge of Breastfeeding Ones,
I have a client who is dealing with ongoing unexplained nausea for years
now. It started 4 years ago with her first child, and is worse now with her
second. She has had hospitalization, tests galore. N one seems to be able to
find a solution. Odd thing...while she is nursing, it subsides. I had heard
of nausea during nursing, but never breastfeeding relieving nausea.
Her hcp does not think it is breastfeeding related so has not advised her to
wean. She however would like this to end. I suggested eliminating all
wheat for starters.? If that doesn't do it, assume other allergies and start
elimination diet. Interesting note...neither of her boys settle well. They
don't sleep more than a couple hours at a time. The first did this until 2 years
of age. The newest one is up at least 6-8 times at night. Mom is needless
to say exhausted! Since this may be allergy related, would that cause
unsettle sleep in the babes too? No fussiness, nothing other than sleep issues and
happy to nurse all night long. But, if it is related to a slight nausea
feeling, but nursing makes it "feel all better" that could still be allergic
behavior? Yes? No?
Any other ideas welcomed.
Thanks
