That's a great question, Chris, and I don't remember what Carlson's
reasoning was for the increase in caloric value.
I don't know what causes milk to change over time -- the milk of a mom of a
preterm infant is different than that of a full term infant which is different
than that of a 6 month old. Lots of things change -- caloric value among
them. I don't know what causes the change.
I guess -- Mother's Milk is Magic!
