Our c/sections have Duramorph on board before surgery and it is great pain
relief for after as well. Our moms breastfeed as soon after the surgery as
possible (usually within the first two hours). We use Motrin (600-800 mg)
VERY effectively as well as Percocet when necessary. These are both
acceptable for breastfeeding. We have the occasional patient who will have
a PCA machine with Morphine or Dilaudid but they pose no problems either.
We have good breastfeeding rates and no problems with our babies.
