Hi Zena,
I am not working as an LC currently, and had not a lot of reflux
cases when I was (mothers tended to go straight to the doctor and
baby got put on drugs). A couple I did have had good results with
chiropractic and the chiropractor I was referring to for a long time
told me that he has had very good results. At one stage he was
lecturing to medical practitioners about his experience and
encouraging them to refer for this diagnosis.
The number of adjustments is much less than for adults being treated,
as babies are not 'set' like adults tend to be. Chiropractors don't
'crack' babies - it is more of a massage that relaxes the baby, and
often sends them to sleep.
I do think it is important to find chiropractors who have a special
interest in treating babies and children. I don't know what it is
like in other countries, but in Australia, chiropractors are not all
equally experienced in this area.
