I will be leaving the position of Lactation Consultant here at Madigan
Army Medical Center October 1st and return to a staff nurse position
within our NICU. Hopefully the new LC will join the list to get the same
insights and support as I have recieved from you all.
I cannot thank you all enough for all the encouragement, education and at
times venting space you have provided.
Starting a Lactation Program brand new 5 years ago was a great adventure.
With the support of you all, I was able to make some positve changes,
especially within the military for breastfeeding support. We now have 5
Army facilities with a free loaner program and if my last grant gets
accepted , this will be spread to all Army Hospitals. WOW! Many
facilites are now making positions for lactation consultants and commands
are better educated to meet our families needs. It was also a wonderful
opportunity to educate physicians, nurses and medics who have made me
proud as they go to other military facilities and spread their knowledge.
Sharing these experiences with you all has been great. Thanks again to
all, especially the guru's such as Jean, Linda, Amy and others who helped
me so much.
Best to all
Lisa Jones RN IBCLC
