Of course not. When I have a students or clients who are facing this sort
of "recommendation" from the doctor, I tell them to ask the doctor to
provide the research that backs up his suggestion "because it's gonna take
some strong convincing for me to go against what my baby is telling me
s/he needs!" If the doctor cannot come up with a copy of some
peer-reviewed research on the topic, s/he doesn't have a leg to stand on.
