But have you ever seen anyone who got their RN after their IBCLC put the
IBCLC first??? I guess the point I'm trying to make is that (perhaps I'm
thinking outside the box) is that in general most lay people consider the
first set of initials the primary credential. I've noticed the CNMs don't
generally sign their names Mary Jones, RN, CNM, instead they drop the RN and
just use Mary Jones, CNM, considering the RN redundant.

I just wonder if any one would pay more attention to the IBCLC if it came
first.

Flossie,

I thought of this when I signed my name, but typically when putting in
credentials, you sign them in the order received -- at least that is the way
I've always been told that it was done. Hence the RN -- and then would be a
BA and then MA then IBCLC as I received them in that order. I don't
consider my MA an "add on" to my RN -- especially since it is in counseling,
not nursing, but a completely separate credential, just as I consider my
IBCLC a separate credential.

My husband's credentials are RPh, MS, and then a bunch of other certified
something or others which I can never remember -- including Licensed Nursing
Home Administrator, and Certified Heath Care Executive.... If he ever uses
them, he puts them in that order.
