Advice please. What's the best and kindest way to handle random requests
for phone advice? From time to time I'll receive a phone call from
anywhere in nation with request for phone info on, usually, a significant
problem - one that needs hands-on help. I have been taking a little history
- enough to tell whether mom just needs a bit of info or if she needs
someone to see her - then go to ilca.org, find her a local LC and I also
refer to LLLI.
Problem is I can tell mom thinks I should have spent an hour on phone
trouble-shooting the sore nipples, slow weight gain or whatever. Do you
Wise Ones have a good way of saying "I can't do that by phone" w/o sounding
unhelpful? How far is it reasonable to go on phone with family on which you
have no history and you cannot see?
