Try the updated American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) statement on BFing & the Use of Human Milk.
I believe they recommend mom & baby sleep close to each other.
They should have citations to references.

I spoke with a mom recently who felt overwhelmed by the thought of having
her newborn sleep in her room. Then I spoke with someone associated with a
SIDS organization who stated that there is no research showing a decrease
in crib death when infants sleep in the same room with their mom. I saw a
study showing that infants sleep better in the same room, and now I have
seen a study from New Zealand, but it also involved sleep position. I have
seen articles referring to mom/baby room sharing being good, so I thought I
would look for a study. thank you, Judy
