Hello all,
The posts on breastfeeding during emergencies are great. We need to
keep discussing ways to influence the powers that be.
Coincidentally, I have a close relative who is very high up in FEMA
and who was sent to Baton Rouge early last week in anticipation of
the storm. After this has all calmed down, and if he ever gets to go
home, I plan to present him with as much information as I can gather
about breastfeeding and emergencies. Maybe they already have a plan,
but I don't think so. Just maybe, with enough information and
numerous contacts from people like us that take it seriously, they
may eventually take breastfeeding seriously, too. If anyone has any
ideas as to how I can proceed with this, please email me privately.
Thanks very much.
Pam Wiggins, IBCLC
