Hi,
I work at a Children's Hospital with medically fragile infants including
those with FTT. We have used an SNS at the breast for FTT infants with success. I
can't imagine why it wouldn't work in your situation. Other thoughts
included supplementing in the SNS with hindmilk first or adding powdered formula to 3
oz of EBM, MOther should also use breast compression if possible. Depending
on current maternal milk supply; using galactogogues to increase the supply
and therefore possibly increase milk transfer over a shorter period of time as
well as increasing the availability of hindmilk are other thoughts. Good luck
and be sure to inform the OT person of the results if they work. Chris
