I remember back in the 70s when my ex and I were at BYU, that some moms who
were breastfeeding would take the milk based formula powder and use it in
pumpkin pie! It made a good substitute for the milk, as well as the sugar.
That was in the days when the attitude there was still pretty anti-birth
control and married students' wives (all but me) were having babies like
crazy and trying to live on almost nothing, and thankful for anything that
constituted free food! Some tried mixing it up and pouring it on cereal or
adding chocolate and serving it to their older children, that way.
When I was still a doctor's wife, I used to get lots of samples from the
various reps, which I gave to groups of adoptive parents I used to give
infant presentations to. Of course, that also gave me a forum for a plug
for breastfeeding, and there were some who tried it.
