Hi,
The report on Karleen's story on breastfeeding toddlers on TV was
SENSATIONAL. I really feel that our mission of normalising breastfeeding in
the community moved one big space forward tonight.
The TV show it was on is a popular current affairs program which usually
goes for the sensational and negative where it can.
However, last night the presented a very positive and reasoned discussion of
breastfeeding the older child. They interviewed Dr Karleen Gribble and
several mothers who came across as normal, intelligent and loving. (which of
course they were!) One mother breastfed her 5 year old on camera.
Good on you Karleen!
(PS, my 12 yr old chastised me for "making" him stop at 4 - he could have
used those extra IQ points he said - he wants to get onto Australia's
brainiest kid. He missed out on the modesty quotient altogether. 7 yrs old
Cassie who has the occasional feed for purposes of quality control, keeping
her sister company etc was very proud because she had participated in the
survey)
