Interesting that according to the article *more* cases of SIDS involve
babies in cribs, yet babies in parents' beds is considered more risky than
sleeping in a crib.
That is exactly what I tell moms who are concerned with sleeping with their
infants. When they bring up the"study" that says that Xamount of deaths
were cosleeping...I ask them where the other X amount were sleeping. I also
remind them, that what isn't mentioned (and never seems to be) is what the
physical situation is... IE:was the mother impaired, sleeping in an unsafe bedding
situation, etc. With proper education co sleeping is a wonderful, SAFE, and
natural practice...I have done it through 4 children from day one and my
daughter is still sleeping with us at 13 mos. (as a sided note, my 7 yr old,
who had sleep apnea and was on a monitor, only had "real alarms" while sleeping
alone. When sleeping with me, the alarm NEVER went off...coincidence? I
think NOT!)
