Despite a lot of effort, she has been unable to increase his daily volume

him some extra calories?
I am wondering, and I am going out on a limb here, obviously with this
infant as ill as you state, human milk is the best thing. Wouldn't donated
breast milk be a better supplement than formula? Could the mom get a prescription
considering his fragile medical status. Does she have insurance or medicaid
to cover it? As far as supply, (and again I am going out on a limb, and I
am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, but hey I am still learning and
welcome some constructive criticism) The infant is 7 mos old, most babies at
that age are beginning to take in solids so could the prolactin hormone be
naturally falling in anticipation of solid food feeding. Of course that isn't
possible for this little guy, but her body doesn't know that. I know that my
milk supply dropped around that time too, but I thought it was because I
started solids, and many of my aquaintances have mentioned the same thing (one of
the biggest complaint is that we are starting to put on weight again because
we obviously aren't using so much energy making breastmilk...big downer lol).
So if this is a "natural" occurrence supplementing may become quite
necessary. If I am completely off base, then I am anxious to hear other's input of
how do deal with this type of situation.
