in response to Jen O'Quinn's post, I certainly don't think an Ob provider
should have discouraged that pt, I just feel so sad for what that mom went
through and wonder if she had any idea what was coming! The first thought
I had when I read that story was of a job a long time ago in a place far
away ;-) where breast and bottle were "equal" choices, the "breast or
bottle?" question was asked at 36 weeks, and breasts were examined at the
yearly exam for lumps but not during pregnancy with a discussion of their
true function. Women with breast reductions and periareolar incisions were
taken by surprised when they had less than full milk supplies after
delivery.
I hope no offense was taken, none was intended :-)
