(MESSAGE SENT TO FOUR GROUPS I BELONG TO)
Dear Everyone,
I have just come back from the supermarket. They were playing
carols... ones that I learned in childhood... I listened to the words... For
the first time...
"Away in a manger no crib for a bed...
The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay."
For goodness sake, what was he doing in the hay? Why was he not
skin-to-skin in his mother's arms? There's more...
The cattle are lowing
The baby awakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying he makes"
So babies must lie alone, awake without crying, and if they do, then
they are good, if they cry, then they are bad. Whatever happened to
"attachment parenting?" What kind of a message are we giving to the
children we teach this kind of song to?
Let's hope that the babies born this Christmas season will get a warmer
welcome!
Best,
Pat
