We are just obsessed with weight!!
I think it is a societal thing...I bet there is a correlation with eating
disorders and obsession with weight gain as an infant in some countries!
There seems to be such a narrow window of acceptability with children's
weight.
Babies should be 3-3.5kg ( 6lb12oz - 8lb or so) at birth, then get rapidly
fat (or here called "bonny")
But by say 18 mo they should be slender - no 'puppy fat'.... fat children
are anathema.
I know there is good reasons for children to both grow and yet not be obese
but sheesh!
Parents can't win!
My own nearly 8 year old eats like a horse and yet is very thin. He has
energy to burn!
He was born 3.1 kg and gained 900g in the first 10 days of life - same
scales as he was born at home.
Just my own 2 cents worth
