This baby needs to be evaluated and quickly by a more competent doctor.
His advice is downright dangerous.
A simple google search on "breastmilk jaundice" brings a whole series
of questions in my mind of things that need to be ruled out despite
good weight gain, especially with low bowel motility, soft/pale yellow
poop, lack of family history for breastmilk jaundice.
It could be as simple as a gut-yeast issue that is causing low number
of stools and thus the baby can't rid his body of the excess
billirubin, but it COULD BE something much more complex: kidneys,
thyroid, liver misfunction.
As the mother of a baby who "appears fine" but has a complex medical
history and chronic disease, I'd fire this doctor immediately and seek
more competent medical assistance.
