Dear Lactnetters,
A new mom hopes that someone can help her with this problem. 11 yrs ago she
had a prolactin secreting pituitary adenoma which was surgically removed.
The pituitary gland was left intact. Her baby is 3 wks old, spent a couple of
days in NICU and is healthy & nurses (briefly) at her breast about 6 times a
day. She also pumps at least 6 times a day which she has done faithfully. She
has never had any breast fullness and is able to pump only a few drops of clear
liquid. The only medication that she has taken in the past 3 wks is 5
Claritin. She has had none in the past week. Her OB doc has referred her to an
endocrinologist. Any ideas? She had a small amount of lochia which ceased by the
2nd week. No complications of pregnancy or birth.
Thank you,
Laura Hart
