Hmmmm... your post got me thinking back, Julia, and I realize that both of
my kids slept with their heads jammed up against my arm or some other part
of my body.  I awoke many times when my son was little (up to about 5
years old) to find his head jammed right up into my armpit.  Thinking of
that reminds me of something I read in some parenting book years ago that
said, "If you don't have time to shower, don't worry about it too much...
you still smell sweet to your baby."  ;)

My almost 3 year old grandson has preferred to sleep beside his daddy for
most of his life.  Even when he was tiny, he would nurse and then move
over to Daddy... which, now that I think about it, was actually started by
DADDY himself.  My son-in-law snuggles up with the baby in the crook of
his arm and the baby's head right under his face.  Justin still goes to
sleep every night all snuggled up with his daddy.  If he doesn't feel like
they're close enough to each other, he says, "Daddy, breathe on my head."
