Regarding "Debate still rages on breast-feeding" (June 15): There really is no debate. The advantages to both the breast-feeding
mother and breast-fed infant are well-documented in many studies.
The benefits include increased IQ, decreased infant ear infections, less diarrhea and fewer urinary tract infections.
It is very sad that Rep. Bill Seitz, R-Green Township, is fearful of slipping on breast milk in public. I have been an OB nurse for
20 years in both the hospital setting as well as doing mother-baby home-care visits and have yet to find this an issue even one
time. This is a lame excuse for not allowing a mother and child to feed by the healthier, more natural and more economical method.
