Dear Friends:
While pasteurizing human milk kills HTLV-1, its presence is one of the
two absolute contraindications to breastfeeding. (See Lawrence "A Review of
the Medical Benefits and Contraindications to Breastfeeding in the United
States). The other is being HIV+.
