In Texas we have the "Mother Friendly Workplace" program. It is sponsered
by the Texas Department of Health. It encourages employers to not only
allow mothers to pump at break and lunch, but also to set up an area where
they can express milk in a clean and private setting. I participated in a
workshop about overcoming barriers to workplace pumping years back at one
of the Texas Breastfeeding Summits in Austin. There is some really great
material out there that educated the workplace on the benefits of allowing
moms to provide breastmilk to their newborns, including less missed days
and work due to infant illness, less medical insurance claims, and
increased employee retention.
