Efforts regarding breastfeeding in public failed in several states in the
last year--some of the comments made by legislators were unbelievable. So,
while progress had been made in some places; in others, it has failed.
Public perception has a lot to do with it.
There is a place for all kinds of activism, whether it be through
organizations, individual letter writing, nurse-ins etc. In a situation
where an individual b'ness owner does something, I tend to agree w/ the late
Liz B. that a nurse-in is not as effective as education. In this case,
however, where a national TV show is saying negative things, a highly
publicized event countering such comments, seemed to be a just response.
