IBLCE does have teeth, several IBCLCs have lost their certification for
breeches of ethics over the past few years.
I do agree that more needs to be done to ensure clinical competencies,
this is what the drive to develop internships is designed to address
until we have university programs in place. I encourage those who are
eligible to mentor interns and pass along your competency. I for one
find mentoring one of the most rewarding parts of this work.
