It seems that during history there have always been issues which now, in
these 'enlightened' times seem hard to believe happened. For example, the
witch hunt in many European countries. Because the Church and state were one
and the same for many years (centuries) and male power and control reigned,
there probably was a lot of control regarding aspects of female fertility,
breastfeeding and behaviour. These 'rules' were man-made interpretations of
the Bible or other dictates believed to be handed down from a higher
Being. But that is not the same as a organised religion as being
anti-breastfeeding!
I cannot believe that all those beautiful Madonna and child portraits by the
famous painters came without some sort of divine inspiration and/or
approval!!
