I have worked with some moms pregnant with their 2nd (or 3rd, etc.) babies
that had very dry cracked nipples first time around. They used the lanolin once
a day during the last weeks of pregnancy. The nipples were not cracked or dry
after having the baby. Some people do have very dry skin. It also helped some
moms that were not sure if they wanted to breastfeed to know what the
sensation might feel like.
I do not recommend this for every pregnant mom by any means. I guess it just
depends on the situation. I remember when pregnant women were told to use a
washcloth to roughen up the nipples. I never did this because it personally
sounded so painful. Maybe it worked for someone?
