Yvonne-
Your question is very much within the scope of
breastfeeding, as I am asked a variation of that
question frequently.
You did not say how old the baby is.
If the baby is under 3 months, maybe the dad can use a
haberman or other "different" bottle. but a lot of
babies get very opinionated about what goes into their
mouths at around three months (no-I don't have a
reference for this). Also, young babies can often be
fed by spoon or cup-perhaps that can be tried.
However, i wonder whether it occured to this mom to
take the baby with her, with a caregiver available for
the times when she absolutely cannot be with the
baby-ie during business meetings, surgery, or whatever
the reason. Because other than the sippy cup (iffy
from 3-6 months usually), spoon, or cup, I'm not sure
that there is a sure-fired solution to this problem,
other than breastfeeding the baby. A lot depends on
the age of the baby.
One thing I do tell mothers is that if the caregiver
of the baby is someone who loves the baby (dad,
grandmother, aunt, etc.), at least you know that the
baby will be loved and treated well in your absence.
I have worked with many mothers who, in an instance
like this, just took the baby with them with another
adult to look after her. This is almost always the
best solution.
Good luck
