Do I have a legal
right to demand that they change my schedule back to the way it was
supposed to be? My baby has a cow's milk allergy and a soy allergy - we
have not been able to find any formula that she can tolerate. Please let
me know if you have any information that could help me. Thank you!<<

<<Unfortunately, I have already tried to explain to my principal and
assistant principal the necessity of breastfeeding my baby. It just does
not seem as important to them as it is to me, of course.

Sara,
It seems that this mother has made every effort to be reasonable. What
happens when the schedule is changed for other teachers? Are they notified
first? Are they consulted? Why was she not called prior to her schedule, which
she specifically requested, being changed?

Could the principal or asst. principal come to her classroom during the time
that she needs to go pump so that she does not leave her class unattended.
It seems that if they are unwilling to change her schedule then they should
be willing to make this schedule work for the remainder of the six week
session until she can get the schedule she requested.
I would suggest that she get her baby's pedi to write a prescription for
breastmilk which she can then show to her boss as well as the Mother-Friendly
worksite program information and the 101 Reasons to Breastfeed. I realize that
a principal in TN isn't going to be overwhelmed by a program from TX but it
makes the point that this isn't an unreasonable request (i.e. she isn't asking
them to write a policy (yet), provide a fridge (yet) or otherwise go out of
their way...I say yet because if they are willing to help her at some point
then the school might do these other things at a later date (hopefully)).

Barring all these things, she could contact her legislator and explain the
situation.

Best of luck!
