Thanks to Marsha G for writing a great letter, and I second the poster who
urges you to send it to Mike Leavitt as well.
It is fine for anyone at all to send letters like this, and if you write
your own, in your own words, mentioning briefly the things you object to
most in their letter to Leavitt, and requesting a response, maybe it will
make a dent. Your letter will be just as strong whether you share it with
Lactnet, or not.
Marsha was brave enough to post her letter here. It's been said before and
I'll say it again, the goal of supporting mothers in breastfeeding their
children is not the property of one political direction or party. I meet
more diverse people on Lactnet than in almost any other part of my life. We
maintain a dialogue across political lines that in many instances would keep
us from communicating at all, because this list is so focused. Let's not
let it get unfocused now; let's remember that in this one issue, supporting
mothers in breastfeeding, we are all on the same side. Impressive.
