I had to chime in here. I remember when I was a kid reading "Otherwise
Known as Shelia the Great" by Judy Blume. She asks her grandmother if
breasts hurt when they grow. Her grandmother says something like, "No,
Babushka, they grow quietly."
WELL! I was a little annoyed at how wrong she was. It hurt! I often had
growing pains, and I know a friend of mine did, too.
I was probably about 10-11 when they started.
I vaguely remember the "disk under there" feeling as well.
It went on for at least a year.
