Roxanne, I doubt this is yeast since it has been going on during her
pregnancy. I would strongly recommend you send her to a dermatologist and have the
nipples examined. The hydrocortisone she was using during pregnancy may not
have been strong enough to treat the problem properly but only a
dermatologist should prescribe something stronger and follow her.
I think this plan would help save her breastfeeding experience. Holding off
a derm referral with experimenting with other treatments may make matters
worse for her and lead to an early weaning.
Hope she can resolve this problem.
