I'm paid equivalent to an entry-level new grad RN in my area. My colleague,
an RN/IBCLC is paid more because of her RN, but less than she should get
because she's employed as an LC. When raises were handed out to RNs in our
department, she was not included because, as an LC, she "doesn't give
direct patient care". For all other Rules & Regs, we both DO give "direct
patient care", but not for Human Resources (payroll) purposes. Go figure.
But we do get full Benefits. She does get her full deserved RN wages when
she pulls an RN shift at a different hospital.
