The NICU Developmental Specialist I share an office with says that our
hospital will never approve cup feeding because AHWONN or NANN (or some
similar professional org.) has rejected it or declared it unsafe or
hazardous. Anyone have any specific info on the official positions these
orgs take?
Also, I have heard there is no "real" evidence to support finger feeding -
just anecdotal evidence; therefore, no finger feeding either. Besides, the
nursery RNs will probably do it like they use bottles: shove it in. They
don't have time to wait for baby to make up his mind. They have 6-8 babies
to feed, etc.
Sources, anyone?
Thanks.
