I actually prefer Soothies for many mothers.  If milk has made it as far 
as the cloth backing of the Soothies, they should probably be 
discarded.  I tell moms to discard them when they are no longer tacky, 
and have not had this problem.  Perhaps the difference is that I see 
moms postpartum and work very hard to keep breasts soft to avoid 
downregulation of milk production.  Comfort gels are probably better for 
moms with significant leaking, because they are rinseable.
