In light of the recent discussion of endocrine hormones, I just started
reading a book called "How the Endocrine System Works" by J Matthew Neal MD;
published by blackwell science in 2001. It "presents a humorous and highly
informative collection of nine easy-to-digest "lectures" discussing the
fundamental workings of the endocrine system in health and disease". So far
I'm finding it makes this complex system easier to understand and is
beginning to answer questions I have had, such as "what does thyroid have to
do with lactation?".
