Hi all -
I work in an area where 40+ at first birth is common. I see a good number
who are 45+. At this age there are so many factors at work. Very
anecdotally I'd have to say that if mom is 40+ and needed donor egg and much
technology to conceive then milk supply may also be an issue. If conception
was spontaneous then milk production is usually ok. I have read that
ability to conceive w/o assistance at 40+ is an indication that body systems
not aging at typical rate - interesting - so hormones presumably firing
appropriately for both conception and lactation. Any 45+ moms I've met have
not lactated fully - and all have needed donor egg etc.
