This is regarding the posting about the DHA infants. An interesting sidebar
is that Enfamil had its yearly Nurses' conference this past week and the
speaker was "highly touted"... My coworkers who went said she spoke about how DHA
is now being given to adults to help with memory, that she herself took the DHA
for herself to help improve her memory (of course she was promoting the
Expecta that Mead Johnson now has out)....They had samples at the conference and my
coworkers told me (I chose to work) that they all took one to help their
memories. I looked at them and reminded them that DHA is found in their diets and
they really weren't going to "improve" anything by one pill.
They thought it was funny. I reminded them that you also help to keep your
mental and memory alertness by exercising you brain by reading, puzzles and
learning throughout your life. You don't find everything in a pill.
Ironically, one Mom who was a "breastfeeder" told me to give her baby Enfamil
with Lipil "that DHA" stuff to help her baby's brain...I reminded her that
her breastmilk was the best brain food. Oh my! I see us having to address will
my child pass his SATs or here in Florida his FCAT by means of infant
feeding. If George and Jeb really don't want any child "left behind" we need to start
addressing it prenatally and telling these Moms, children who are breastfed
are scoring well.
