I believe OSHA and/or Joint Commission require mom's milk to be stored in a
separate refrigerator. We have 1 on peds & 1 in NICU designated "for breast
milk only." There are some very stringent requirements about what and how
things can be stored in the patients' refrigerator.
I do agree about NOT putting mom's milk in a hazardous waste bag. We use
zip-closure bags to store the bottles of milk in. Each bottle is labeled with
name, date & time.
