Yes, and when that happens, we have the sense that our bodies are moving
through their natural phases, sometimes without our minds going with
them! The experience can be a bit disconcerting, especially with the
emotional issues common to perimenopause, unless someone helps a mother
to see what is happening and offer a positive perspective on it. As with
frequent pregnancies, non-interventionist childbirth and "long" periods
of breastfeeding, it is hard to get validation for that experience when
so much of women's health and well-being is medicalized or simply denied.
